XXYTalk - New visions, new horizons!
Posted on: 05-27-08 07:54 PM     Posted by: Rick

Dear members of XXYTalk.com and the Klinefelter Syndrome community at-large,

I am most pleased to tell you that my long-term friends across the pond, the Klinefelter's Syndrome Association (a charity of the UK), have acquired XXYTalk.com and it's related entities. I could not have found a more suitable group of people anywhere to take the reins of XXYTalk and continue with our original goals.

XXYTalk will remain much the same as you see it now. I will continue to be here, but as a temporary administrator and doing the day to day duties as I have for the last 3 years. But sometime this year I will step back and let Paul Dutton (chair of KSA-UK) and Povl (Treasurer) runs things as I have done.

I think you will be pleased with KSA-UK's plans for XXYTalk. I have confidence they will lead us all forward and strive to reach people interested in Klinefelter Syndrome all over the world, not just the UK.

Please visit the KSA-UK website:
www.ksa-uk.co.uk/

Even without official credentials, I will forever be an ambassador for XXYTalk and hope you will be too.

Yours truly,

Rick

June 2008: XXYTalk Newsletter

NEWSLETTER: JUNE 2008

You are receiving this emailed newsletter because you are a registered user of XXYTalk.com.

XXYTALK GETS A NEW FACE LIFT!
Everyone deserves a face lift at some point in their lives and we are no different. Same ole, same ole gets tiring. Got to change and freshen up. And so we did. Plus, for the older members we made our default font a large one rather than a small one.

If our font is too large for you, then you can change it. Use the menu "MY XXYTalk" and "Control Panel" and then "Display Settings". There you can change your "skin" to a smaller font. Also, you can do many other things to make your visit to our site more to your liking.

Be sure in your profile to indicate your gender (intersex, male, female) and tell us if you are XXY or not. We will soon be adding more information fields to the member profiles. It just helps other readers to know where you are coming from in making posts on our site.

Next September 2008 will mark 3 years of continuous innovation and leadership in the support of Klinefelters worldwide. No other website has as many members or as many posts (40,000+!) about XXY/Klinefelter issues as we do. We set out in the beginning to be the premier source and with the help of many wonderful XXY's and their relatives we have done it! Thank you! Yet, we continue to have growing pains and symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder. It's very hard to keep a good thing going.

NOTICE OF MEMBER PURGE!
With over 1,300 registered members you would think we would have a lot of activity on our forums. We don't have the activity we should have. Why? Many members registered because they were curious about what we are and what we have to say. Perhaps after they logged in and found no gossip about Britney Spears they never came back.

I've decided to purge the member list of persons who have not logged in since January 1, 2007. And each year we will continue to purge another year. Our purge will begin in a few weeks and continue over the next couple months.

If you wish to retain your login, then do that -- login with your username and password. If you can't remember your password, we have offer a way to get it to you. Click "Login" and then "I can't remember my password".

XXY UNIVERSITY

We feature XXYTalk t-shirts and other clothing for sale through the internet. We have a partnership with CafePress to handle our marketing of printed t-shirts, caps, and other clothing items. To see our exclusive XXY clothing line and order direct from our supplier, click this link: http://www.XXYUniversity.com

Our pricing for item offered is at no profit to us. We wanted to make sure you got the very lowest price we could possibly offer. We seek no profit from our members.

"XXY University" -- What is it? It's somewhat amusing really. We thought it up and decided to promote it. Certainly you will want to wear a nice t-shirt with XXY University on it to show your pride in the fact that you are a part of a worldwide group that seeks to educate and inform people throughout of XXY issues. The fact that one in 500 to 750 male (and sometimes female) births has the extra X chromosome is little known or understood. In fact, of those births the stats tell us that 3 out of 4 don't even know they have the extra X chromosome.

At some point and time in the world we will get this message across. We are already trying to do this through our annual "Awareness" campaign. We have a website to help spread the word and reference to our "Awareness" council members who have demonstrated that they support "Klinefelter Syndrome Awareness Week: March 15-21, 2009". http://www.KlinefelterSyndromeAware.com

Happy Summer 2008! If you are visiting the USA from another country, contact me. Maybe we can meet. It's always great to meet XXY's and their loved ones!

Yours truly,

Rick

XXYTALK.com supports March 15-21, 2009 as Klinefelter Syndrome Awareness Week.

Website: www.KlinefelterSyndromeAware.com

Klinefelter syndrome

n.

A chromosomal anomaly in males characterized by the presence of two X-chromosomes and one Y-chromosome, causing reduced testicular size, seminiferous tubule dysgenesis, and infertility. Also called XXY syndrome.

It is named after Dr. Harry Klinefelter, a medical researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, who first described this condition in 1942.

Challenging the Norm: XXYTalk.com
Posted on: 12-08-06 03:47 PM     Posted by: Rick

Welcome to XXYTalk.com!

Our mission is to provide the means for all of us with Klinefelter Syndrome, XXY, and Variants to interact with one another including those who are keenly interested in our well being.

The one thing I wanted to provide at XXYTalk.com is a professionally designed and hosted website. Here we can share information, ideas, and just simply communicate with one another. A friendly site this will be with very few restrictions and rules, yet safe and somewhat confidential.

The kind of people we hope will register as users of XXYTalk.com are those who:

  • are diagnosed with Klinefelter Syndrome,XXY or a variant; and/or
  • suspect they may have Klinefelter Syndrome; and/or
  • have low testosterone levels; and/or
  • are a spouse, partner, significant other or a concerned family member or friend of someone with Klinefelter Syndrome; and/or
  • are the parent(s) of a child suspected or confirmed with having Klinefelters Syndrome; and/or
  • are medically trained and dealing with patients who have Klinefelters Syndrome; and/or
  • represent reputable drug companies that Klinefelter Syndrome patients may be interested in their products; and/or
  • are medically educated and do research on Klinefelter Syndrome and the related; and/or
  • identify their gender as either male or female or neither; and/or
  • have an intersex condition; and/or
  • are members of current organizations, websites, and message lists concerning XXY - Klinefelter Syndrome; and/or
  • are leaders and workers in the Klinefelter Syndrome information support world.

Who have I left out? I am sure you could add more or better descriptions to this list, but certainly you get the idea.

I will say that XXYTalk doesn't generally censor messages unless they are outrageous and truly unfit for reading, such as spam or insults. And as moderators we will move posts which are in the wrong discussion Forum and try to keep message threads as coherent as possible. The software we use will automatically adjust certain words, which considering that ladies are present, just shouldn't be used in text. You know the "F" word! So if you use that word in text it will show as xxxx.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that XXYTalk is a friendly place and everyone should feel free to post about this or that without fear that someone will jump down your throat. It simply does not happen here!

Our Forums will forever be changing to reflect the likes and dislikes of those who use them. We ask that you be yourself, ask questions, and create replies. You don't have to be an expert to voice your opinion. Your opinion counts at XXYTalk!!!

We are different than any other message board for Klinefelter Syndrome you have experienced. First, we are not a Yahoo group and we have no advertising or pop-up pages. We have an easy to remember domain name as XXYTalk.com. All you need to know is your login name and password. There are no gimics to join or maintain your membership and we do not share your email address or personal information with anyone anywhere. We feel that your experience here will make a big difference over what you are used to seeing elsewhere.

I hope each of you will spread the word on other message boards of this site and provide links back to us at www.xxytalk.com within your text messages. We do not wish to shut down the other message boards. In fact you will find links here to all of the other Klinefelter and XXY message boards. We are not running a competitive site --- just another site with a different slant or hopefully an easier way for you to express yourself. User-friendly is the key and the goal is to share and educate.

I look forward to meeting all of you online and you knowing me and understanding what motivates me and of course, me learning about you. I seek no profit or gain from this XXYTalk.com experience. I set it up to learn about this condition we call Klinefelter Syndrome. We promote your continued association with the prominent 501(c)(3) non-profit Klinefelter Syndrome support organizations.

I myself am "47,XXY" -- thus, I am one of you! I seek friendships among all of us.

Yours truly,

T-Guy

Why should I become a member of XXYTalk.com?

First time visitors (Guests) cannot see our entire message board. But you can see the titles and descriptions of our 18 different Discussion Forums. Within each of those Forums will be messages posted by registered members of XXYTalk.com. Thus, if you want to READ the messages you should register as a member. It's totally free!

However, Guests are permitted to read messages that are posted within the category headings of INTRODUCTION and WEBSITE LINKS. All you can do is read, but unless you are a registered member you cannot write there.

XXYTalk.com will forever be changing and evolving into whatever its members desire.

Registration is quick and easy (if you follow instructions). Can you follow instructions???

READ THIS CAREFULLY!!!

Locate the menu items at the top left side of our webpage. Click the one that says REGISTER and follow the prompts.

First, you will get a screening message that asks for your birthdate because you must be at least 18 years of age to become a member of XXYTalk.

Next we ask you to create a login name, a password, and provide us with a valid email address.

Our system will then automatically send a message to your email address. It could take a minute or 30 minutes. So watch out for it. If you can't find it, then chances are it's in your "spam or junk mail" basket. Look there! We are not spammers, but sometimes email account settings are too strong and they kick out a lot of legitimate emails.

Inside the email text from us is a special link. You must click it to complete the registration process. Your failure to do that within 48 hours of signing up will automatically delete your account. If that happens, you can go through the registration process again.

But when you click the link inside our email to you --- then and only then will it activate your account. Afterwards you can go to www.xxytalk.com and login with the login name you chose as well as your password.

Members can create a profile and have a signature line after each message they post. Also, members can have their own personalized avatar as well.

There are many benefits to being a Member of XXYTalk.com and there shall be more as time goes on.

The important thing is to REGISTER now. Don't be a lurker!

We want you to feel comfortable being here and sharing info about yourself as well as Klinefelter Syndrome. Messages you post within our member categories are not available for anyone to read other than registered members of XXYTalk. Text from the member only areas will not appear in search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.

"The only way to measure whether testosterone should be higher or lower is by trial and error. The best way to tell if your body needs more or less is by % Free Testosterone. If the "% Free" is low, and LH (Luteinizing Hormone) is high, then you need more testosterone. If LH is low, you don't need more.

Pretty simple. The only complication is FSH, because it indicates tumors, but for interpreting that you really do need a competent doctor."
